Can't access Windows D: drive from Ubuntu

Dalom

I completely removed Windows today, and installed Linux, and now I can't access D:\. I know it has something to do with the Windows partition, but I can't figure out how to do it without deleting the sensitive data there. I can't see the D:\ drive in the file browser, but I can see it in Gparted. Gparted says sdb1 is "corrupt or unknown to GParted, etc." and sdb2 works fine like NTFS.

How can I access my data without deleting Linux?

Kristopher Ives

Open the file browser and you should see the drive in the left menu:

enter image description here

After clicking it, the drive will mount. It works with NTFS drives out of the box, you don't need to install anything.

I don't think this will work, the only reason is whether Windows marks your NTFS drive as "needs checking", which is a more complicated question. You can fix this by booting into Windows or running the ntfsfixcommand ( see this question ).
