Is it possible to connect a VM to a VPN connection on a VM-only host?

I want to connect a Linux VM to a VPN connection on a Win 10 host , and only that VM will use that VPN connection . Is it possible somehow?

I came up with a working solution, although it involves using routing metrics.

In VirtualBox, I have host-only network adapter enabled for the VM. In Windows, I use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to share a VPN network adapter connection with a host-only network adapter. This will complete the VPN-only internet connection to the VM, but not the VM-only use of the VPN connection. To achieve the latter, I had to edit my OpenVPN client configuration by including route-nopullparameters , then manually route all traffic through the VPN with high magnitude. route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 default 500This setting will make the OpenVPN connection use the VM only.

You also have to setup a system-wide primary DNS server on the linux VM to avoid DNS leaks.

I have tested this setup and everything seems to be working fine.
