Can't log in to samba share

Eddie

I recently reinstalled ubuntu on my laptop and can no longer log into the samba share on the server. It works on a Windows machine and it works fine on a laptop, then reinstall the OS.

I set it to guest access and it still doesn't let me in, I don't know what's wrong.

There are many differences between how the SMB client works on linux/Mac OS and Windows.

On Linux/Mac:

  1. You need to specify the shared folder smb://SERVER/ SareFolder

  2. You can't just log in with an email address on Windows, a wrapper for the GUI looks like this:

    • mount_smbfs //user@server/folder./mntpoint
    • Ofc cannot resolve @login
