VirtualBox: Set the network adapter to be private to the guest VM

Tombstone 89

In the previous question, I asked how to configure m0n0wall in a VM. Now, I want to set up the network adapter in my computer to be used only for the guest VM, that is, to not allow any traffic from the host to go through. So far I haven't been able to find a way to find this. I am using VBox 4.0.0.

I have two physical NICs, one I want the host to use and one for the guest.

I tried disabling the red two boxes (and then the green one), and ticking "VirtualBox Bridged Networking Driver", but that didn't work (or I expected it to be easier to use than I hoped).

The idea is to have the virtual machine run as a gateway on the host.

It appears that this is not actually possible because the host NIC has to be connected to the guest somehow, so disabling the feature in the NIC won't work. Still, m0n0wall/gateway can be created in the VM.
