Is there a way to tell if the video is 360 or panorama?

dreamers organization

For a project I'm working on, I'll need to automatically determine if the video is a VR (360) video, and if so, which format. Is there any way to say it? I was thinking about metadata, but couldn't find any info on this.

There is no point in checking the size, most properly encoded movies use standard sizes like 1080p (1920x1080), WQHD (2560x1440) or 4K (3840x2160) due to better hardware decoding. For this reason, they don't have square pixels. So you shouldn't guess anything proportionally.

What you should do is check for the existence of zenith and nadir . If the colors are the same (i.e. assuming the most standard isometric projection ), check the top-most and bottom-most areas of the image .

If you involve a stereoscope, this method will require some adjustment. You will have to repeat this process for each eye area. Also, you can infer certain stereotypes - for example, you can distinguish up and down, mono and left and right. Unfortunately, you can't guess which image fits which eye, so you have to assume a more common situation where the left eye is usually the left or left eye in the image.
