Trust the SSL certificate to the local system account

Matteo Mosca

I have the following needs:

The Windows service needs to connect to the svn repository via https. The service also needs to run as the local system account to get IO permissions on the computer.

Now, when the service tries to connect to SVN, it throws an error that the certificate is not trusted (it's a self-signed certificate).

I don't have access to the service source code to add the svn option to the trust certificate and accept it permanently. So I need to know how to add that SSL certificate to the local system account's trusted certificates in Windows.

Is that possible? If so, how to do it?

thanks.

Dennis

Follow the steps below to trust the system-wide certificate:

  1. Double-click the .crtfile.

  2. Click Install certificate..., then click Next >.

  3. Select Place all certificates in the following storeand click Browse...

  4. Select Trusted Root Certification Authoritiesand click OK.

  5. Click Next >, then click Finish.

However, the downside of this is that Windows will trust any certificate signed by the same CA.
